Year in Review 2021

Working a day job as a direct care worker took up most of my time in early 2021. In spring I finally paid off all of my debt including credit cards and student loans.

From May to July, nearly every day I had off from my day job was filled with weddings, photoshoots, or other activities related to the various organizations I’m part of. Most photoshoots were engagement or model sessions with a few notable exceptions being work for Four Leaf Brewing and Chase Engel and The Night Shift. In mid July my Nikon D600 finally died and I upgraded to a Nikon D780.

In August I left my job as a direct care worker and started working part time as a janitor. This was a refreshing change. This allowed me more time to pursue photography and be more active in the various other organizations I’m part of including Christ Covenant Church, Clare Area Jaycees, Clare County Arts Council, and Royal Family Kids.

The end of summer and fall was filled with photographing weddings, engagements, models, headshots, and even a college senior portrait. I also did some retouching work for other photographers. My work was included in Mt Pleasant’s Art Walk Central. In October 9&10 News The Four featured me on their Artist Profile Segment. The interview can be found here. I got to be the official photographer for the Mt Pleasant Craft Beer Festival which I’ve done since 2017. Also my work is currently on display at the Clare Union Railroad Depot.

Some of 2021’s most enjoyable moments were spending time with friends. In my spare time I’ve been able to read 90 books this year, my new personal record. Two big goals for next year are taking better care of my health and making progress towards building a home.

Below are my favorite images from 2021.
